Stick em Up

Stick em Up
A Nielson

Stick em Up, and I don’t mean your hands, I mean your hair.
When I have to catch the bus at 7:00  am
I want a hair style that is fast, easy ,
no blow dryer, flat iron, just slap  on some gel & spike it and go.
But what I have discovered for my fine, thin hair is:

Not all gels  work the same.  For years I struggled with Volumex,

My hair looked gelled but my spikes drooped, and curved like a tidal wave.
 Advertised as
1.     Volumizing gel
2.     Builds sensual fullness  I didn’t want to be sensual I wanted spikes

So I asked my co workers for product recommendations and they suggested :
Beyond the Zone, Bad Bing Gel,

It seems to me, the better the hair gel, the bolder the claims, the stronger the adjectives
 Super Hold, sculpt & mold
 Extra hold Gel

What’s the difference between Ultra hold, super hold, extra hold & maximum hold?
I tried this brand and it worked much better than Volumex.

I’ve been known to stop total strangers and ask about their hair style. In one rest room, I inquired of a  classy grey haired lady “How did you get your hair to spike so evenly.?”

“I blow dry it and spray it with hair spray.”  Wrong answer too much work.

Another time stopped the perfectly spiked  blonde hair stylist and asked her the same question. She suggested “Spike It.”   Hey isn’t that a spice in my cupboard. Yes, it was.

Not to be confused with this  SPIKE IT

Spike It  is another Beyond the Zone brand which boasts  “Defy Gravity” I believe I could glue myself to a tree or a post with this stuff. ( Not for astronauts)

Ruthless hard hold”
“Texture and Shine.”

I tried  the “Spike It” and yes, the claims are true. It takes very little gel to hold, It shines and dries fast and hard. A little goes a long way. I run my fingers through my hair to make spikes . separate the spikes with my rake. Then I hurry to and wash my hands off before my fingers stuck together and before the rake sticks to my hand.

I’m so glad this ridiculous carefree hair style is popular…..  Gone are the days when mother checked to see if my hair was combed and parted straight before I left for school. Spiked hair dos have crossed the lines of decency.  The idea is not to looked combed.  Halt, this is a Stick up, use “Spike It.”

  4. I've been using the hair spray method, but it always drooped & never looked spiked. Thanks for the recommendations.
