My recent trip to Caldwell made me think about the old Eddies Bread signs we saw in our youth while driving in the country to visit Uncle Boyd in Meridian,Aunt Elda or the Hansens in Middleton. We used to count them along the way.
Who ever yelled out "Eddies Bread" got to add the sign to their total. Usually they were posted by a farmers mail box, or strung to a barber wire fence on a post. Where is Hertha when I 'm in the mood to reminisce. Jocile, Lora Dawn, do you remember these signs? I always wondered Did the posted sign mean the Farmers family ate Eddies Bread. Now I wonder if they grew wheat for the company.
Mother used to make home made bread so commercial bread was a great treat for us. We used to wad up a piece into a ball and eat it as a snack.
Recently a customer told me he used to work for Eddies Bread in Ogden as a college student and yes, they still exist. I notice on Internet there are other locations, Ammon , Idaho So here's to Eddies Bread Sign, which I longed to see. I found it on the Internet
We counted Christmas trees on the way to church similar to counting Eddies Bread signs.. And we loved Burma Shave Adds, which were a form of entertainment while traveling.
Also we loved the Mum deodorant cream bottles and used them for salt and pepper shakers for our MUM CAFE
