I attended a Tabernacle Choir broadcast which I haven't done for years. The tabernacle was full and special foreign guests were introduced.. Good PR.
I sat by a man and his wife from Indiana took a two week vacation with no destination. "I have been listening to this choir since 1950," he admitted.
"Do you have any of their CD's?"
"Yes."
"I want them to sing at my funeral or at least play a recording."
At the end of the rehearsal leaned over and remarked how I liked the message.
“Who has not had a dream dashed or felt rejected or disheartened at times? …..
The real question is who will you respond to those disappointments? …
Look for the Silver lining means choosing how we will respond to the dark
clouds that come into our lives. “ Then the choir sang “Look For the Silver Lining”
My new acquaintance said the message really applied to he and his wife' s situation. She had beenn operated for a brain tumor last summer.
Anyway beautiful gorgeous music. I admit I'm a sucker for Tab Choir music but the last song, when the choir and orchestra turned and faced the audience and sang "God Be With You Til We Meet Again, brought a new flow of tears running down my cheeks. Not sure why this happened totally unexpected but one of those wonderful, impromptu experiences where I felt the spirit of the music..
After the broadcast, I sat , not wanting to stir. The camera men packed their equipment and the Tab Men stayed for extra rehearsal on more music.
The skyline of SLC is certainly changing. The temple is dwarfed by taller buildings. IN a different light, Brenda said they tell the missionaries that the tall buildings protect the temple. Hadn't thought of it At this angle one doesn't see the new building behind the Assembly Hall
Here's the sky scraper which replaces the Old Temple Square Hotel. Mother and Dad used to stay in that Hotel I remember visiting them and listening to conference with mother in her room.
The same new building from a different angle.
Soon I retraced my steps to reflection pond to see how the sun had changed.
The Temple Square Ducks swam around entertaining visitors.
Went to visitor center and I saw several new exhibits. One city replica of Jerusalem at the time of Christ. Down stairs were exhibits with O Test and BOM prophets. I particularly like the Moroni or Mormon display with him sitting at the table in a cave full of scrolls, plates working on abridgment. It stretched my imagination with the nooks in the walls holding parchments and scrolls.
