Innies or Outies

Of all the problems in the world, I think we should take time to analyze and discuss Innies and Outties. No, I’m not talking about belly buttons; I’m discussing rest room doors.

An Outie Door pulls out as you enter.

An Innie door swings in as you enter. The door handle is on the other side.

Then there’s the maze entry without a door. Here’s a tiled entry.

Maze entry found at Wal-mart.

By the way I got in trouble for taking this photo. An employee was directly to my left. "No taking photo in Wal-mart she warned. "

"Why?" I thought maybe it was because I shot a rest room entry.

"It's against company policy." I felt like saying "You have all these security cameras on John Q public and I can't take a a non person photo in your store, but I didn't and left.

Anyway back to Innies and Outties
With all the Swine Fu virus which was rampant during the fall ,I became conscious of what I touched during the day especially in rest rooms. It seems redundant to wash hands after toilet use then have to pull a door handle to get out.

There goes a zillion germs back on your hands. So I prefer the outtie door, pulling on the door handle to get in then I don’t have to touch the handle upon leaving, just lean against the door. Here's Cheri with her hands prepped for surgery using her body to open the door.

I noticed hand santizers have been added by the door recently but does that do any good before you pull on the door handle to get out. In this photo I'm holding the door with my foot then applying the sanitizer.

Some rest rooms have waste baskets by the door so you can grab the door handle with the paper towel and not touch the handle, other don't which is a real pain.

I have a friend who prefers the rest room with the window, just in case the electricity goes out, she can find her way out. I’ve never worried about this predicament before.

Which do you prefer, Innies, Outties , or the Maze?

  1. Ah---the outie does make clean sense. I'll vote for outie.

  2. I'm confused at which to call it, but I like the ones you push to go out or the maze... less germs. ---I've been using the sanitizing wipes (on my cart) at the entry of the store too. Do you guys have those? Love them!

  4. Personally I'll like the maze, a door less entry.

  5. Just use your jacket sleeve to open the door either way and DON'T use the air blowers, they just blow the germs around.
