Not only did Aunt Hertha try and help me sew, but she sewed a missionary jumper and my wedding dress. The plan was to make a simple polyester dress, which I could wear to the temple after I got married. I chose an empire waist line projecting pregnant temple attendance.
Here's where my memory fades me. Did Hertha measure me at Christmas time or did I send measurements by phone call or letter.
Anyway I never tried the dress on until the day of the wedding. In my wedding photos you can see that the sleeves are 4-5 inches short.

I wore this dress to the temple for many years. I outgrew it before it ever wore out. While buying a new temple dress at "White Elegance" I saw a sign which ask for temple dress donations to Mexico sisters. This I did. So I hope some tall, short armed sister in Mexico is enjoying the the dress Hertha made for me.
And you look beautiful in it!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks like it is supposed to have the 3/4 sleeves. I have a couple of temple dresses I could send, if I could find them.
