Aggie Art

Last summer as I toured the USU campus with my camera I shot photos of Aggie art. I thought this piece was very interesting

Later I read in the Statesman the Tilting Arc was broken. Well how was I suppose to know it was broken Shows you how much I know about art. It looked fine to me.

An article in the paper said this 20 foot Kinetic "Tiltiing Arc" had been weather damaged and wind blown and had been repaired after three years of being out of commission. The Statesman goes on to say. "The school no longer has state funding to restore things like this, Berry said, It took three years of funding to afford the structure's conservation."

The article went on to say:"USU is known for the amount of diverse art pieces around campus." I guess I can't contest this statement since I haven't toured other Utah campuses recently.

" We're one of the few campuses in the state of Utah that have this amount of public art."

So there you have it. Here's some more pictures of Aggie Art which I posted on Facebook last Fall.

French fries

If you walk around this piece you can get an Aggie A out of the French Fries. Cool.

See the engineering building in the background. This is perfect art, looks like a Lego for engineers. " The Pivotal Concorde"

The hands remind me of girls camp. Isn't this how we carry an injured person?

the opened ball

This piece of art changed as I walked around it

Publish Post

what shall we call this geometric piece?

These next five pieces were inside the quad at Caine Fine Arts Building. They have their own art show

No this isn't playground equipment

Lets not forget the circles.

To the side of the Eccles conference Center I found something that reminded be of Woody Woodpecker.

Found on the Old Main Quad

This Mountain Man is posed in front of the Natural Resource Building. One day I walked by and he had disappeared. Strange, I was positive I had taken a picture of him earlier in the summer. I'm sure he didn't just walk away. Too heavy for students to place on a balcony. Later I learned he had been demoted behind the building and replaced by a monument of doners. Money talks.

Next to the Emma Eccles Building

I love this art piece. From any angle it has interest. Notice the different shots. Photography lesson#1

My favorite shot against the rising sun.

And then we have a winter shot. Look out kids, Emma is about to pelt you with a snowball.

"You better be good or else!!"

  1. Thx for the art tour. Did you pose Emma with the snow ball? I had no clue there are all those pieces there.

  2. who me do a thing like that? Actually I got the idea from someone else probably a student who place a snowball in the hand. I thought it was funny but missed the photo op. So I waited for another snow storm.
